Popular podcast host Joe Rogan accused CNN of “yellow journalism” and “fake news” after posting a side-by-side video of his COVID announcement with the network’s version, which appears to be in a different color.
The video, posted to Instagram, shows video of Rogan’s announcement that he was treated for COVID on Instagram running simultaneously with CNN’s broadcast of the same video.
CNN’s version appears to be a much darker color, making Rogan seem more sickly.
CNN has denied the charge, and “fact-checkers” have declared Rogan’s claim to be false.
Rogan simply captioned the post “Yellow Journalism” and added the hashtag ‘#fakenews.’

Indeed, CNN’s video clip of Joe Rogan posted on their own site shows a discolored version of the announcement video.
In his Instagram video making the announcement back in September, Rogan appears in a more brightly lit setting.
“Turns out I got COVID. So we immediately threw the kitchen sink at it,” Rogan said in the video. “Monoclonal antibodies, ivermectin, z-pack, prednisone.”

The Associated Press fact-checked Rogan’s claim and declared the notion that CNN had manipulated the coloring in the video to be false.
“An analysis of the video used by CNN in a report about talk show host Joe Rogan contracting COVID-19 found no sign that the color had been altered,” they wrote.
If that wasn’t enough to declare the case closed, the AP added: “CNN confirmed no changes were made to the color of the video.”

While the AP states “frame-by-frame analysis” and “a digital forensic expert found no evidence of alteration,” their fact-check doesn’t provide any explanation as to how the video ended up being a different hue.
A Google search of discolored Instagram videos does seem to suggest this type of thing happens, though it usually occurs during the original upload.
Joe Rogan has been disgusted with and cast CNN’s coverage on a variety of topics as ‘fake news’ in recent months, most notably involving their reporting on his battle with COVID.
Regarding his aforementioned use of ivermectin, Rogan got into a heated exchange with CNN’s chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, forcing him to admit the network never should have chastised him for taking what they call “horse dewormer.”
“Calling it a ‘horse dewormer’ is not the most flattering thing, I get that,” Gupta said.
“It’s a lie,” Rogan fired back. “It’s a lie on a news network … and it’s a lie that they’re conscious of. It’s not a mistake. They’re unfavorably framing it as veterinary medicine.”
“Does it bother you that the network you work for out and out lied, just outright lied about me taking horse dewormer?” he pressed.
“They shouldn’t have said that,” Gupta admitted.
Rogan has mocked CNN for their ratings during the post-Trump era and called Brian Stelter’s show out in particular saying it’s “f***ing terrible.”
He went on to blast Stelter for fawning over White House Press Secretary Jan Psaki during an especially embarrassing interview.
“How about Brian Stelter talking to the press secretary, ‘What are we doing wrong? What are we doing wrong?’” critiqued Rogan. “Like, hey motherf***er, you’re supposed to be a journalist.”

Rogan would later call Don Lemon a “dumb motherf*****” after the CNN anchor doubled down on criticism of him for using ivermectin.
“They don’t understand that when they say things that are absolutely untrue, it diminishes their authority,” he blasted. “They’re not even aware of what they’re doing.”
He went on to suggest that in the past the media would get away with making false accusations because their targets were people who didn’t have the following the networks do.

Taking him on is a whole other ball game.
“When you’re saying something, and then the person you’re saying it about has literally tens times the audience you do, you dumb motherf*****,” Rogan pondered.
“Do you know what you did? You just proved my point.”
